This winter I had the chance to help Molde University in Norway with ideas and design for their annual student event Vinteruka. I designed the logo, Facebook page, festival posters, stickers, t-shirts and a web banner. A fun project to work on.
Waleed showed me this amusing reflection of our digital age, making fun of all viral videos making fun of people. Spot on with Cleveland’s reaction: “Oh why couldn’t this had been on the Fox home page, then no one would have seen it!”
This guy’s got some good storytelling skills- it’s easy and enjoyable to follow along. The comparison is spot on, too.
I like to look into new areas of inspiration. Right now it’s nails! I just love all the wonderful creations going absolutely Barbados- can you imagine sitting with a tiny pencil making even tinier patterns with a precision making your eyes tear? My favourite blingbling-bananas is the one above. Ashame that won’t last out the door once you need to tie your shoelaces.
Well, here we are. Facing the cold and dark winter months in Scandinavia. I have come to conclusion it must be the winter season that makes Swedes so successful in design, music, film and fashion. Yes! Please let me brag a little- how very ‘unswedish’ of me.. I mean let’s namedrop IKEA (I’ll get a fine if I don’t mention them), H&M, Robyn, Swedish House Mafia, WeSC, Nudie Jeans, J Lindeberg, Weekday and Acne being the one proving my point best by producing art, advertising, fashion, film and a magazine all under one roof! Recently I spoke to a Director of an ad agency in Skåne and he also thought one of the reasons we are so productive is this country’s long tradition of collaboration. Who knows? I like having little winter projects going on, when the only light that leads you is not from cosy little candles (sorry viking ancestors) but from the screen of your Macbook Pro.
The OnePiece is greeting me on the streets on a more frequent basis. I’d say make a creative Winter Collection! What wouldn’t sell better in Europe right now than fake fur? There could be two versions - Chewbacca or Snowmonster, complete with rifle belt or eskimo racquet shoes. Or a feather version around Easter? Or different personality ones like a Disco OnePiece in a fabric like sequin? Pimp My OnePiece. Imagine.
